Cyber Security for Government

Government systems are under constant threat from activists and hostile nation states. From intelligence gathering to confidential information theft to national infrastructure disruption, the damage caused by a breach are significant – which is why governments invest heavily in their cyberwarfare provisioning.

Threats are constantly evolving. To maintain defences, public sector bodies must implement a routine security testing regime that provides a true understanding of current preparations.

Fidus already work with government bodies, providing testing and consultancy services, including:

  • Penetration testing to assess perimeter defences and internal systems that deny unauthorised access to protected resources.
  • Security and permissions audits to ensure credentials are being properly managed.
  • Physical security assessments to confirm offices, data centres and computers are properly protected against unauthorised infiltration.
  • Social engineering tests to ensure staff are prepared to deal with human-led attempts to gather intelligence.
  • Unannounced phishing email simulations to test how recipients respond to ‘malicious’ messages.
  • “Red team” simulations that mimic a genuine cyberattack to test defences, responses and processes.

Working alongside your in-house team, Fidus will assess defences and provide actionable recommendations for further improvement.

Cyber security compliance for Government

Government IT systems are bound by several regulations. Among the many compliance services we can provide you with are:

  • PSN CoCo compliance testing – If your organisation needs to obtain a connection to the Public Services, or to renew your certification, Fidus can carry out the necessary security testing on your behalf.
  • NIS Directive compliance – Every EU-based Operator of Essential Services (OES) or Digital Service Provider (DSP) is expected to comply with the NIS Directive. Fidus consultants can test and verify your cyber security protections meet the required standard.
  • GDPR / DPA compliance – Government bodies are bound by the same rules governing the storage and processing personal data as any other organisation. Breaches that expose personal data also carry the same penalties – fines of up to €20m. Fidus can help you assess current PII safeguards, and where to make improvements.

From penetration testing to general security analysis and troubleshooting, our highly skilled, experienced team of consultants is here to help.
